Art Farm
We are a very young farm and hospitality business that dreams big and beautiful.
We dream of a bountiful orchard and a nut tree farm and nursery. Whit is the main farmer here and can be seen on his humongous orange tractor.
We dream of an art residency and enchanting cabins to share this ocean air…
Who we are
The adorable cabins are Emerson and Char’s passion project.
Emerson is the proud child of a long-time housekeeper at the Bar Harbor Inn and elsewhere on Mount Desert Island. After his mom’s sudden passing, participating in hospitality and cleaning has felt important and essential.
Char is a visual artist interested in exploring the healing potential of a beautiful, colorful and welcoming space. Extending her painting practice to creating quirky cabins feels perfect.
The land is willed to return to Passamaquoddy tribal ownership, and is part of a project between best friends of different but interconnected backgrounds (Afro descended, Indigenous, settler-descended and a mix of all of that) intended to address land justice from a not owning-class perspective, and to grow spaces for artists who are queer, trans and Two Spirit. It is led by Jamila Cornick and Clay Muwin River. As part of our practice of living here, we see ourselves as interconnected with the web of life that we belong to and are dedicated to our role as balance keepers, living with this land and all those who occupy it as our cherished family.
